May 24 AMLD Board Meeting Notes

Greetings, neighbors!

I was so excited to see so many residents at the May 24 meeting. I really appreciate everyone that was able to come on such short notice. The board had official business to address before the next scheduled meeting.

Meeting Participants

Director Mike Chaney, Director Katherin Hogle, Director Paul Hermesmeyer, Director Monique Watford, Director Nikki Hinkle, District Manager Greg Williams and District Attorney Zac Evans were all present.

Community Comments

A resident shared how excited she was about the new board. She has lived in the district for many decades and is ready for some fresh ideas. She shared her thoughts on hiring a new district manager that has a strong background in finance. She was also concerned about the administrative consulting agreement as a waste of distinct money. She suggested that the board ask residents to apply as an interim district manager.

Another resident shared how much she was going to miss Greg. She was going to miss his easygoing manner. She thanked him for his 15 years of service.

Meet Your New Board

Director Watford was sworn into office. The board was reconstituted into the following roles.

President: Katherin Hogle

Vice President: Mike Chaney

Secretary: Monique Watford

Treasurer: Paul Hermesmeyer

Assistant Secretary/Assistant Treasurer: Nikki Hinkle

District Manager News

The board accepted District Manager Greg Williams' resignation. His last day in the district was June 8. We are grateful for his 15 years of service and wish him well on this next chapter of his life.

The job has been posted and we are accepting qualified applicants. The board appointed Director Hogle and Director Hermesmeyer to be on the personnel committee. This committee will conduct the interviews of candidates for district manager. If you have any thoughts about our next district manager, then please share with these board members.

Communication from the Board

Director Hermesmeyer asked the board to adopt the Administrative Consulting Agreement. This would allow the board to consult with Greg about official district business while we look for a replacement. The agreement would be $100 per hour in blocks of 30 minutes. Zac Evans will construct the agreement between Greg Williams and AMLD.

Director Hogle shared that the board's number one priority is to find our next district manager. In the meantime, we have confidence in our staff to keep things running. She asked that all residents please support our staff by holding off on noncritical concerns as we navigate this transition.

Director Hogle also asked the AMNA president about the plant presentation. She asked if AMNA would present this presentation to the board at the June 13th meeting. AMNA has agreed to share it with the us.

You Are Invited

The next meeting will be this Thursday, June 13th at 7:30pm. Check out the meeting agenda

Upcoming Events

There are going to be some new and exciting meetings happening this summer - strategic planning sessions and a meet and greet. We are still working out the official dates and times for these events. Summertime travel schedules make it a bit tricky to plan. I will let you know when we have official meeting dates. You can always check the calendar on the AMLD home page (lower right hand side).

The board is looking at hosting a meet and greet in July! This would be an exciting opportunity to meet all the board members in a casual way. It will be a come and go event, so I hope you will be able to make it. I will share the date and times as soon as we can line up our schedules.

Strategic planning sessions are a top priority for this new board. This will be an opportunity for us to gather and create a framework of our goals for the district. Our hope is to have several of these longer planning sessions over the summer with all five board members present. We are still working out the details of these meetings, but I will share more when it’s made available.

Communicate with Us

I have an official AMLD email address! I would love to hear from you if you have a concern or new idea for the district. I also encourage you to reach out to the other board members as well. I believe that this new board is open to hearing from residents, so please reach out.

Got Signs?

I am donating my campaign signs to AMNA to help them advertise their events. I have gotten the majority of them back over the last month. Please email me if you still have one and I can do a porch pick up.

Reminder

As an AMLD board member, I want to remind everyone that this newsletter is not the official notes from the meeting. These are my personal thoughts on the items that were discussed at the meeting.  Please see the link if you would like to see the official notes from the past board meetings. Meeting Minutes
