November 14 AMLD Board Meeting

Greetings Neighbors!

As the holiday season is upon us and the year draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share some updates from our recent Board meeting on November 14th. I’m excited to bring you news of key decisions, as well as upcoming events that offer plenty of opportunities to celebrate and connect with your neighbors. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the meeting – your participation and energy are what make our neighborhood so special!

Community Comments

While there were citizens present at the meeting, no one provided any communications or spoke during the citizen comment portion.

Q4 Budget Review & Approval

We are excited to announce that after reviewing our Q4 budget, the neighborhood is $57,000 in the black for the year! This is a wonderful achievement, and we’re grateful for everyone’s contributions that helped us reach this positive financial position. A special thanks to our District Manager (DM) for creating a new format that is making it easier to analyze and track our budget lines. This new approach will help us keep a closer eye on our budget throughout the year, ensuring better transparency and financial planning.

Personnel Policy Review

At the meeting, the Board discussed our personnel policy and agreed that more time is needed for a thorough evaluation. As a result, we have decided to postpone the review of the policy until the next meeting to ensure it receives the attention it deserves.

2024-2025 Focus Areas for AMLD

In other exciting news, the Board approved the 2024-2025 Focus Areas, as presented by Director Hogle. These three key priorities will guide our work in the coming year:

  • Budgeting Capabilities- AMLD will improve the efficiency and flexibility of its budgeting processes and drive accountability to operating budget.

  • Parks and Recreation Opportunities- AMLD will improve the usefulness of its parks and recreation facilities.

  • District Communications- AMLD will improve the frequency and meaningfulness of its communications with residents.

These focus areas will help align our efforts as we work to improve the quality of life in our neighborhood and strengthen the community. We look forward to tackling these initiatives in the coming year!

Board of Directors Place 5 Vacancy

We appreciate all the interest in the Board Member vacancy. Thank you to everyone who has submitted their letter. We are grateful for your dedication to the neighborhood and your willingness to be a part of this important process.

Anderson Mill Limited District currently has a vacant position on its Board of Directors (“Board”). The Board will appoint a new director to serve the remainder of the term for that position. Interested residents may submit a resume and a letter of interest indicating why they want to serve on the Board and what skills, talents or experience they have. The Board especially hopes to find candidates with financial and/or technology backgrounds who can contribute immediately to initiatives and strategic plans that are under discussion.  The Board will review all candidates’ submissions and select one who must be confirmed by a majority vote.

The District will accept letters of interest until the vacancy is filled.  All applicants must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the State of Texas, and a resident of the District.

Please submit your letters of interest via email to districtmanager@amld.org or in person at the AMLD office at 11500 El Salido Pkwy, Austin TX 78750.

Holiday Cheer in the Park

The Christmas Tree is back at Harper Park this year! A big thank you to our dedicated maintenance crew for making this holiday season even brighter! They have been working hard to spread festive cheer throughout our community parks and buildings.

Retirement of Mrs. White

After 34 years of outstanding service, Mrs. White will be retiring at the end of this month. Please join us in thanking her for her dedication and contributions over the years. Feel free to drop her a note, give her a call, or visit the office to say goodbye and wish her well in her retirement.

Community Bike Ride

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Bike Celebration on November 17. We had 55 riders who learned about our bike lanes, with the City of Austin on hand to answer questions and facilitate the event. It was a great turnout, and we’re glad we could connect with so many of you!

Gingerbread Party

This Sunday, don’t miss our Gingerbread Party – a fun and festive way to kick off the holiday season with your neighbors! We’ll have gingerbread house kits, photos with Santa, and a breakfast buffet while supplies last. It’s just $5 per person, but preregistration is required.

Happy Holidays!

As we wrap up the year, I want to wish all of our residents a happy and safe holiday season. May this time be filled with joy, laughter, and wonderful memories spent with family and friends. We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting or around AMLD!

Upcoming Meeting

Our next board meeting will be Thursday night at 6:30 PM. Please check the agenda and join us to stay informed on the work we’re doing for the neighborhood. We encourage all residents to come and share their thoughts during Citizen Communication.
