January 9th AMLD Board Meeting

Greetings Neighbors!

We’re back in action for 2025! The board has resumed our working sessions, and I’m eager to update you on what’s been happening so far in January. We are committed to making our community a great place to live, and we continue to work hard on your behalf. We’re also excited to keep working on these initiatives together and make even more progress in the year ahead.

Community Comments

A resident shared her appreciation for our neighborhood pools and the opportunity to bring her two children to swim. She emphasized the importance of keeping the funds within the community, rather than taking them to other pools, and suggested a few ideas to help with this. Some of her suggestions include lowering the daily entrance rate to better compete with other local pools, offering the ability to reserve tables for parties, and providing toddler swim time during lessons, as is done at other pools in the area.

The AMNA president also shared exciting news about the Tree Grant, which is nearly ready to be signed. Just a few more documents are needed to be given to the City of Austin. We are thrilled that we are so close to finalizing this project.

Aquatics Report

Unfortunately, our Aquatics Manager was unable to attend the meeting. However, Director Hogle shared that the Aquatics Manager will provide a comprehensive update on our aquatics program during the February meeting with a slide deck.

Auditing Services

The Board approved continuing our relationship with the auditing services for 2025, ensuring that we maintain transparency and accountability in our financial processes.

Investment Institutions

Additionally, the board discussed exploring new institutions for our investments, as the rates on our current one have increased. We’re actively shopping around to find the best deal and services for the neighborhood’s financial growth.

Investment Officer

Director Watford, our treasurer, was also approved to be our designated Investment officer. This is an important step in streamlining our financial oversight and decision-making processes.

Community in Committees

We’re excited to open up new opportunities for community members to join the Parks & Landscaping Committee, Community Engagement Committee, Communications Committee, and the Architectural Control Committee! This new initiative invites residents to apply to one committee for a one-year term and work alongside the board to drive positive change that meets our community’s needs. Below are the descriptions of each committee's focus and responsibilities. With 1-3 spots available per committee, apply today to join our collaborative efforts and help make a difference in our neighborhood!

Deed Restrictions

The board also discussed deed restriction violations and has made the decision to proceed with legal action to resolve these matters.

Spring and Summer Guide
The board reviewed the Spring/Summer Guide and was pleased with the adjustments made, particularly the increased clarity and consistency. However, we will wait until after the January working session to approve the final version due to the potential for changes in fees.

CASE
We also had a conversation about the benefits of continuing our involvement with CASE, especially as the Texas legislative session is underway this year. After careful consideration, we agreed that staying informed through CASE is a valuable use of our time to keep up with any legislative developments that may impact our community.

Parks and Landscaping Committee

The Parks and Landscaping Committee is planning a parks tour in the near future to set a baseline for our parks and trails. They have also met with AMNA to dive deeper into the Tree Grant and are eager to share their tree planting plans once the grant is finalized. The AMNA Court Committee has yet to meet due to scheduling issues but will be convening shortly to discuss their proposal.

Community Engagement Committee

The Community Engagement Committee shared updates on the upcoming Town Hall and newsletter. The monthly newsletter will be distributed after each board meeting to keep our residents informed with timely, relevant information. The committee also introduced the idea of a photo contest, which will be featured in the Spring/Summer guide. We encourage all community members to sign up for committees, as their involvement helps strengthen our neighborhood. Lastly, we reviewed the Gingerbread Party and discussed plans for improvements in the future.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is developing a temporary signage solution at the softball fields to remind visitors that alcohol is prohibited in our community parks. This initiative aims to reinforce park rules and promote a safe, family-friendly environment for all.

Community Center

We’re thrilled to announce that the interior of the community center, where board meetings are held, will soon be refreshed with a new coat of paint. This update will enhance the space, ensuring it remains welcoming and comfortable for everyone who uses it.

Board Vacancy

Lastly, we will be interviewing candidates for the vacant board position during tomorrow night's meeting. We are honored that these candidates are willing to share their time and talents with the community to fill this important vacancy. We’re excited to meet them tomorrow evening and look forward to learning more about the unique skills and perspectives they can bring to our board.
