February 13th and March 6th AMLD Board Meeting
Greetings Neighbors!
It has been a busy month around AMLD with lots of new happenings and consistent fun. We have had a little bit of something for everyone around the neighborhood, from swearing in our newest board member to the tree groundbreaking, and even the start of Open Play Pickleball. I’m excited to share some updates with you, as well as highlight some important changes to our staff.
February 13th Board Meeting
Citizen Communication
Alfonso Sifuentes, the representative from Republic Services, our trash provider, took the opportunity to introduce himself to the new board members. He expressed his willingness to assist the district in any way needed and shared his satisfaction with the ongoing relationship between Republic Services and our neighborhood.
Swearing in of Trevor Mazer to the Board of Directors
We are proud to welcome Trevor Mazer as our newest board member. As a licensed civil engineer and real estate professional, Trevor brings valuable experience that will help us make thoughtful decisions, especially as we focus on updating our aging infrastructure. We’re excited for the contributions Trevor will make to our community!
FY 2024-2025 First Quarter Budget
Our budget is performing well, thanks to higher than expected income from investments and increased sales. Spending has been below projections overall, except for pool related expenses, which were impacted by capital improvement projects completed before the busier summer season.
AMNA Pickleball Open Play Proposal
The AMNA Court Committee presented a proposal to the board, which was approved on a contingency basis. If you are a court key holder or AMNA member, join us for open play on Wednesday mornings from 10am-1pm. There will also be a Thursday night game soon from 7pm-10pm. I hope to see you on the court!
Cleaning Service
To ensure our facilities remain clean and welcoming, the board has approved bringing in a professional cleaning service for weekly cleanings. With staff needing to focus on other priorities, this decision will help ensure our facilities are consistently clean and well maintained for the community.
Aquatics Supervisor
Our Aquatics Supervisor, Christine Greenfield, left the district in February. We are actively working to fill this critical role and appreciate your patience as we find the best candidate to serve our community.
Solid Waste Committee
The solid waste committee has begun researching opportunities for our waste contract. We're also aware of the ongoing discussions about bulk trash pick-up. If you have feedback or suggestions, please share your thoughts using this feedback link.
Tree Groundbreaking Event
AMNA, AMLD, and the City of Austin kicked off the planting of 35 new trees in our parks and trails on Sunday, March 2nd. The groundbreaking ceremony at Harper Park was a huge success, and we appreciate everyone who came out to support this important environmental initiative. Together, we’re creating a greener future for our community.
